Terms of use

These terms apply to the ReefLogix app for iOS, iPadOS and Android (the "app") and the website at reeflogix.app (the "website"). ReefLogix is made by xyzlab.dev, an independent developer based in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Your license to use ReefLogix

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with the rules of the store you downloaded it from. You may not copy, modify, resell, or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it despite this limit. We keep all rights in the app, the ReefLogix name and logo, and the website, other than the third-party content described below.

Apple devices

If you download ReefLogix from the Apple App Store, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard Apple EULA) applies to your use of the app on Apple devices, together with these terms. Where the two conflict, the Apple EULA wins. Apple is not responsible for the app or its support, and Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it.

Android devices

If you download ReefLogix from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and purchases.

ReefLogix Plus

ReefLogix is free to use. ReefLogix Plus is an optional, one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the features listed on the pricing section, such as full history, unlimited tanks and CSV export. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

• The price is 4.99 USD, or the local price set by Apple or Google in your country, shown in the app before you buy.
• Payment is processed by Apple or Google. Their terms apply to the payment.
• Plus is tied to the store account you buy with. You can restore it on other devices that use the same Apple Account or Google account. Purchases do not move between the App Store and Google Play.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. We cannot issue refunds directly because we never receive your payment details. On iPhone and iPad, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use Google Play's order history or the Google Play help center.
• If a purchase is refunded or revoked, the app returns to the free limits. Your data is not deleted.

We may add features to Plus over time. We will not take away a core Plus feature you paid for without a very good reason, such as a legal requirement or a change in Apple or Google rules.

Aquarium information is general guidance

ReefLogix shows ideal ranges, statuses such as Ideal, Low, Elevated and Critical, tips, reminders, species care data and Fits your reef checks. All of this is general information for reef aquariums, based on common hobby practice. It is not professional, veterinary or scientific advice, and it cannot account for every tank, species, test kit or situation.

• Always read your test kit's instructions and double check unusual results.
• Species data, tank size suggestions and compatibility checks are simplified and may be wrong or out of date for a particular animal.
• Reminders depend on your device, its settings and the operating system, and may be delayed or not delivered.

You are responsible for the care of your aquarium and livestock. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the loss, illness or death of any fish, coral, invertebrate or other livestock, or for damage to equipment or property, that results from relying on the app.

Species photos

The species photos in the app and on this website are third-party works from Wikimedia Commons. Each one belongs to its photographer and is used under its own Creative Commons license or public domain dedication. These terms do not change those licenses. You can find the author, license and source of every photo on the photo credits page and in the app under Settings, Photo credits. If you reuse a photo, follow its license.

Your content

Your readings, notes and photos are yours. They stay on your device, and we do not get a license to them because we never receive them. You are responsible for keeping your own copies, for example with your device backup or a CSV export.

No warranty

The app and website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the app will be free of errors or that data will never be lost.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, livestock, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the app or website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for ReefLogix Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or 5 USD if you did not buy Plus. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

Changes to the app and these terms

We may update the app and change or remove features. We may also update these terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and for important changes we will let you know in the app. If you keep using ReefLogix after a change, the new terms apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the consumer laws of your home country give you the right to bring a claim where you live.
